The scope of work for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools project consisted of selective demolition and renovation within existing commercial kitchen facilities, including the removal and replacement of industrial kitchen equipment to accommodate integration with newly designed mechanical systems. Demolition activities were performed in a controlled and phased manner to minimize disruption to ongoing school operations and to ensure protection of adjacent building components.
The project included the careful removal of existing floor finishes and preparation of substrates to support a revised kitchen layout and upgraded mechanical infrastructure. Coordination was required to facilitate the installation of new mechanical tie-ins, including plumbing and related utility connections associated with food service operations.
As part of the renovation, all kitchen floor assemblies were redesigned to incorporate new grease waste management infrastructure. This included the installation of grease drainage piping systems and grease interceptor (grease trap) components, designed and installed in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, health department regulations, and district standards for commercial food preparation facilities.
Following mechanical and utility rough-in, all flooring areas were properly prepared and finished with a high-performance epoxy flooring system. The epoxy finish provided a seamless, non-porous, and chemical-resistant surface suitable for commercial kitchen environments, ensuring durability, ease of maintenance, and compliance with sanitation requirements.
The completed scope resulted in a fully upgraded and code-compliant commercial kitchen environment with improved mechanical integration, enhanced drainage performance, and a durable epoxy flooring system designed for long-term institutional use.
