Modelo City Branch Library

For the Modelo City Branch Library project, the scope of work consisted of the demolition and reconstruction of building means of egress systems to achieve full compliance with applicable ADA accessibility requirements and current building codes. The project included selective demolition of existing concrete elements to facilitate the reconfiguration and upgrade of pedestrian circulation routes, ensuring safe and accessible egress throughout the facility.

Earthwork operations were performed as required to support new grading profiles and establish proper subgrade conditions for reconstructed walkways, ramps, and associated site improvements. All excavation and compaction activities were completed in accordance with geotechnical recommendations and engineered design specifications to ensure long-term stability and performance.

New concrete sidewalks were constructed to provide compliant and durable pedestrian pathways, incorporating proper slopes, jointing, and surface finishes to meet ADA accessibility standards. The scope also included the construction of structural stair systems and accessibility ramps designed to facilitate safe vertical circulation while maintaining code-compliant geometry, load capacity, and dimensional tolerances.

Additional work included the installation of safety handrails and guardrail systems, fabricated and installed to meet applicable structural and life-safety requirements. Site lighting improvements were also implemented to enhance visibility, security, and safe nighttime use of all egress pathways.

The completed scope resulted in a fully upgraded and code-compliant means of egress system, improving accessibility, safety, and functionality for all library patrons and site users.
